The annual "Blues on the Green" concert series at Zilker Park is underway. This event has a significant impact upon our neighborhood, so you may want to review the information below provided by the City of Austin and plan your travel accordingly.

  • Dates: May 22, June 12, July 17, & August 7
  • Time: 7:00pm – 9:00pm

This event does not charge a fee for public participation.

PARK PERMITS:  Amplified Sound:Amplified sound has been permitted at this event from:  6 pm – 10 pm

PARK ACCESS: In Use – no fences, no barriers, significant portion of the park reserved/impacted by the event.  Includes increased pedestrian and vehicular activity.

IMPACTS and ALTERNATIVE PARK USE AREAS:

  • SuggestedAlternative Park Use Areas:  Vic Mathias Shores Middle lawn, Shores off leash area, Festival Beach

  • Due to the number of participants on site, and the nature of the activities, access to park areas, parking lots, waterway and/or docks are impacted during event hours.
  • In addition,event set up activitiesoccur in advance such as infrastructure delivery and includes a significant amount of traffic in the park.

STREET CLOSURES, TRANSPORTATION AND PARKING:

  • The event willsignificantly affect area traffic conditions and public recreational use of the park during event hours.
  • Street closures occur nightly at approximately 9 pm to assist with safe exiting of attendees.

ALERTS!

  • PARKING ALERT – Parking on the grass/on unauthorized park grounds is a  $250 parking fine  during special events.
  • VENDING ALERT – Illegal vending/commercial activity  Class C Misdemeanorminimum $200 fine.
  • Glass, Styrofoam and Smoking are prohibited in all parks.In addition, the event organizer may restrict additional items on site.

ROAD CLOSURES

  • A safety closure is enacted at night after 9 pm on Barton Springs Road to help quickly exit patrons from the site. The safety closure opens no later than 11 pm.
  • Closure area is Barton Springs from Mopac to Sterzing.

NEIGHBORHOOD PATROL
Dedicated APD officers are patrolling and ticketing the event and surrounding area.

PARKING AND NO PARKING ZONES
Parking Restrictions ARE in effect. Planned zones are included in the following areas:

  • Zilker Neighborhood
  • Barton Hills Neighborhood

It's that time of the year again and the Blues on the Green summer concert series is going to be starting on Wednesday May 25. There will be four shows again this year. I will include all dates/rain dates, event time, and traffic information below. See attached documents for specific event information from KGSR and three traffic maps.

Dates: May 25, June 22, July 13, August 3
(Rain Dates: June 8, June 29, July 20, August 10)

Time: 8-10pm

NEIGHBORHOOD CALL IN LINE: 311

Traffic Information:

Traffic control times are 4pm to 10pm. Police will be stationed at the intersection of Barton Springs and Robert E Lee.

Lane Closures:

Robert E Lee will be blocked off at 9pm allowing only northbound traffic to turn eastbound on to Barton Springs Rd.

One lane closure will occur at 9:30pm on Barton Springs Road.
Westbound from Sterzing , eastbound from Columbus.

Full closure of Barton Springs will most likely occur at the end of the concert at 10pm, this will be determined by the police for each event.

Drop Off Zone: Drop off zone set up on Sterzing Road

South Lot of Barton Springs Pool will have attendants at south entry way and only pool parking will be allowed.
